SUMMARY:First Friday Artist's Reception
DESCRIPTION:"Fall" into Art at The Artists' Gallery October's First Friday reception at the Artists' Gallery guarantees a diverse mix of visual delights\, conversation\, music\, and delectable refreshments! Join us on October 5th\, from 5-8 p.m.\, to feast your eyes and feed your soul! Singer/guitarist\, Tom Gudding\, will entertain with classic folk-rock. The Featured Artists are: Sculptor and painter\, Deidre Wilda\, amazes us with her extraordinary mixed-media wildlife sculptures\, and her distinctive water media paintings include new work featuring trout and trees as her subjects. Deidre recently designed a wonderfully whimsical Triceratops dinosaur sculpture for the "City of Ca on Outdoor Public Art Project". Currently\, she's working on a commission for a stunning outdoor memorial sculpture to grace the grounds of the Canon City Library\, fulfilling a vision for her benefactor! Owner of Bird's Eye Photography\, Robin Riddle's splendid photographs reveal her love of Colorado landscape and wildlife. Robin says\, "My goal is that my images "speak" to the viewer transporting them to the places I'm photographing and arousing their emotions." She also shares\, "At times\, I soften the lines between photography and painting to transform an image\, using filters to alter texture or colors. These changes can turn an ordinary photograph into one that is seductive and artistic!" Virginia Ames\, owner of VA Creations\, has been a beaded jewelry artist for more than 27 years. She creates spectacular vintage-look and contemporary beaded pieces\, often integrating interesting "treasures" into her designs. Virginia says\, "I've been changing my style a bit\, experimenting with different materials in my new work\, but beads are still the best!" She'll demonstrate her intricate beading techniques during the evening and answer questions. In the "Collector's Corner"\, we're introducing the fresh and exciting art of Brandon Pierce. He works in a variety of media\, including graphite\, charcoal\, acrylic paint and watercolors. Brandon draws inspiration for his art from multiple sources\, ranging from nature and pop culture\, to music and biblical references. The Artists' Gallery\, 416 Main St.\, Ca on City\, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call (719)345-4070 and check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TheArtistsGallery/.
