SUMMARY:First Friday Artist's Reception
DESCRIPTION:Fall into Art on First Friday! The monthly First Friday reception at the Artists' Gallery is an eclectic mix of visual delights\, interesting conversation\, intimate music\, and delectable refreshments! Join us on October 6th\, from 5-8 p.m.\, for this popular event\, as we feature the creative work of two of our inimitably talented member-artists! Inspired by her third successful year exhibiting at the prestigious annual Loveland "Sculpture in the Park Show"\, sculptor and painter\, Deidre Wilda\, stuns us with her newest mixed-media wildlife sculptures. With integrated rock cairns as bases for many of the pieces\, she coats each one-of-a-kind sculpture with a metallic finish\, realistically replicating bronze in all of its subtle colors and sheen. Deidre's distinctive watercolor paintings\, finished with an intriguing "crackle" technique\, further explore color and humor in her favorite subject amazing Colorado wildlife. Impressively\, Deidre was recently selected as one of the dinosaur sculpture artists for the City of Ca on Outdoor Public Art Project! Photographer and owner of Birds Eye Photography\, Robin Riddle expresses\, "The subjects of my photographs originate from my overwhelming love of the Colorado landscape and its wildlife." "I am instinctively compelled to observe\, learn\, and artistically capture images of wildlife in their natural surroundings." Robin skillfully\, and magically\, preserves their quintessence in the fleeting moment. Increasingly drawn to photograph deteriorating rustic buildings\, she muses\, "These structures sit vacant\, decaying\, and unappreciated they are reminders of the past\, and stimulate my imagination with the stories that they keep secret"! Singer and guitarist\, Tom Gudding\, will entertain guests with great classic folk-rock music! Come feast your eyes and feed your soul\, while supporting the arts in Southern Colorado! The Artists' Gallery\, 416 Main St.\, Ca on City\, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call (719)345-4070 and check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TheArtistsGallery/.
