SUMMARY:First Friday Artist's Reception
DESCRIPTION:Winter is an etching Spring a watercolor Summer an oil painting and Autumn a mosaic of them all! -- Stanley Horowitz During the month of November\, The Artists' Gallery is presenting "A Fall Mosaic"\, a spectacular display of artwork by our member artists\, in tribute to Autumn. We invite you to join us on "First Friday"\, November 3rd\, from 5-8 p.m.\, for an inspirational evening of art\, music\, and community spirit! Featured Artists for the month are photographer\, Mel Williamson\, and potter\, Sylvia Car n. Always with his camera at his side\, award-winning and published photographer\, Mel Williamson\, records the world around him. While on backpacking trips high into the Rocky Mountains\, and on rock-climbing adventures around Colorado\, Wyoming and Montana\, he artfully captures the most breathtaking images. Mel has had the good fortune to study under several well-known photographers. In turn\, he teaches digital photography classes\, sharing his expertise and love for the medium with others. Owner of Car n Pottery\, Sylvia Car n\, views her functional stoneware pottery as a "canvas" for some of the detailed relief work and textures she integrates onto the surfaces. Believing that utility and art are not exclusive of one another\, she often merges the two into pieces that not only beg to be used\, but are beautiful enough to be displayed. Embracing the gallery's theme\, and her favorite season\, Sylvia has created new pieces designed with an autumn-inspired leaf motif. Make it a date to meet and converse with these artists\, and many of the 50 others represented at the gallery. Enjoy the stimulating atmosphere and live music performed by Thomas Gudding\, singing and playing folk-rock favorites on his guitar! Complimentary refreshments are always served by the artists\, and guests are welcome to enter our drawing for an opportunity to win a work of original art! The Artists' Gallery\, 416 Main St.\, Canon City\, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information\, call (719)345-4070 and visit www.facebook.com/TheArtistsGallery/.
