First Friday Artist's Reception
You are cordially invited to a stimulating evening of art, conversation and music at The Artists’ Gallery, September 7th from 5-8 p.m., for our monthly “First Friday” artist’s reception! We will be showcasing the work of three of our uniquely talented painters: Award-winning multi-media artist, Sharon Conner, loves to explore various media to create images that are intriguing, familiar and complicated. Her newest paintings, fabulously rendered in watercolor and acrylic, reflect Sharon’s prolific talent. Sharon expresses, “I consider myself a colorist, since my work is full of color and contrast.” She adds, “I strive for new interpretations so that viewers engage, smile, contemplate, and experience a lingering touch to their soul.” Kari Jacobs has had the heart of an artist since childhood. Her key mentor and teacher, her mother Sharon Conner, has inspired and encouraged her all along the way. Kari’s penchant for intense color appears to be inherited! Painting mostly in acrylics and watercolors, she also enjoys working with ink and pastels. She will be presenting all new work in her Featured Artist display, including her largest painting, to date. Kari shares, “I firmly believe that when an artist creates a piece of art, a part of the artist’s soul is imprinted forever on that piece!” Painter Betti Royall exclaims, “I never thought I could have so much fun in retirement!” She’s always had an artist’s eye for detail, so painting has come naturally to her. Without formal art training, but encouraged by some very good mentors, she decided to “just do it!” Now painting has become her passion. Oils and pastels are her favorite medium for creating her lovely still life and floral paintings, but portraits are the subjects she really loves working on. Her joy and passion are evident in each painting! Please join us to celebrate these artists, view their new work, and engage with them in discussion. Enjoy live classic folk/rock music performed by popular guitarist-singer, Tom Gudding, while complimentary refreshments are served by our team of member artists. A thoroughly entertaining evening is in store, and an opportunity to support the arts in Southern Colorado! The Artists’ Gallery, representing nearly 50 local artists, is located at 416 Main St., in Historic downtown Cañon City. We are open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a different member artist hosting each day. For more information call (719)345-4070 and visit us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/TheArtistsGallery/.
