Tunnel Drive Hike
The hike follows Tunnel Drive, a historic water supply grade into the Royal Gorge. It is a 4 mile round trip and has a 150 foot elevation rise and drop near the start of the trail. Surrounded by the Gorge, we will discuss its geology, geologic history and railroad and local history. We will stop for lunch and discussion at the end of the trail. The trail accommodates a group of 30 easily. The hike will be rescheduled if there is poor weather. Register in advance with AHRA. The hike is for all skill levels, the handicapped and children age 6 and up. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Bring water, lunch and a hat. There is a restroom at the trailhead.
